Key Information Systems is a systems integration company that
specializes in platform-to-platform conversions, Internet-based
applications, storage management and high-availability solutions
for small and medium business (SMB) organizations.
At the conference, Key will represent IBM as a Premier Business
Partner and systems integrator. They will assist Novell business
partners to migrate Novell users to NetWare 7 or to Novell Linux
Services. "Key is a strategic provider in IBM‚s Linux
value-net," noted Lief Morin, President at Key, "and
our experience in migration services and Linux has equipped us
to provide the services that Novell partners and their customers
will need during the migration process."
Novell has 5 million Netware users, many of whom are expected
to attend the Novell and IBM Linux Solutions Conference.
Novell announced last week (November 4) that it will acquire SuSE
Linux in a $210 million cash deal. At the same time, IBM announced
it is making an investment of $50 million in Novell. Thus, the
IBM-Novell-SuSE alliance is well funded.
SuSE,
headquartered in Nuremberg, Germany, is the second largest commercial
Linux distributor after Red Hat. "SuSE has been on the front
lines in the effort to get Linux on the iSeries," notes Pete
Elliot, Director of Marketing at Key, "and we at Key are
strong supporters of anyone who can help to make Linux a solid
player on the iSeries platform."
By the release of NetWare 7, Novell Linux Services will be functionally
equivalent to NetWare 7. Novell‚s customers now have a viable
option to continue with solutions from a provider they have trusted
for years. They can now move forward with an Open Source non-proprietary
solution that also has both IBM and Key behind it.
