Woodland Hills, CA – February 5, 2007 -- Key Information
Systems, a leading technology firm in the western United States,
announced its second consecutive year as a sponsor of the Nissan
Open Presented by Countrywide golf classic taking place Feb.
15-18, 2007 at the beautiful Riviera Country Club in the Pacific
Palisades area of Los Angeles. As an official 2007 Nissan Open
tournament sponsor, Key anticipates contributing $25,000 to
this venerable golf charity event, the oldest civic-sponsored
event on the PGA Tour started in 1926 by the Los Angeles Junior
Chamber of Commerce. Key joins other top technology companies
including IBM, Xerox, Canon and Verizon as an event sponsor.
Key and its guests will again this year have a dramatic vantage
point as a sponsor at the 17th Green Panorama Suite offering
a unique view of the 17th green hole well as Riviera’s
historic 18th hole tee box. The par-5 17th hole at the Riviera
Country Club is the longest hole on the course at 576 yards,
with a beautiful fairway approach requiring two long shots
to put players in position for a possible birdie. A two-tiered
green sloping back-to-front renders all downhill putts treacherous
at best. Dramatic birdie action is frequent as the leaders
deal with the stress of the final holes and vie for a $5.2-million
purse. The 17th hole presents players with a last gasp opportunity
to make a move on the leader board and clinch the tournament.
Key’s suite features grandstand seating, television displays
and hospitality table seating, with complementary food and
beverages. Key’s guests will also have access to the
Champions Club in the main clubhouse with hilltop views of
the course, including the first tee and putting greens.
As it did last year, Key has engaged several of its strategic
technology business partners as co-sponsors for the event.
This year, Key’s co-sponsors include AVNET, IBM Tivoli
Software, Q4bis and Marathon Technologies.
“Our first-time sponsorship at the 2006 Nissan Open exceeded
our expectations,” stated Pete Elliot, Director of Marketing
for Key Information Systems. “It was all for a very
worthwhile cause as a significant extension of our commitment
to community involvement. And it delivered the positive visibility
among our clients and partners that we had hoped for. We are
looking forward to an even stronger experience for Key and
our co-sponsors this year.”
“On behalf of the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce
and the Nissan Open, we look forward to another successful
tournament and appreciate the continued support of Key Information
Systems as one of our premier sponsors,” said Nissan
Open Tournament Director Tom Pulchinski.
All bottom-line proceeds from the Nissan Open are used by the
Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce in fulfilling its mission
to serve the Los Angeles community by funding charitable programs
including the Urban Youth Golf Program, Safe Passage Tennis,
Riordan Volunteer Leadership Program, Foster Family Picnic
and the Los Angeles Watts Summer Games. The 2006 Nissan Open
raised a total of $1.7 million.
Key’s president, Lief Morin, said, “The community
benefits that come out of the Nissan Open are outstanding and
afford Key a great opportunity to expand on our practice of
giving back to our local community. We are very excited to
be back as a sponsor for a second year. This event follows
on the heels of a long list of charitable and community activities
in which our employees have participated such as support for
the Los Angeles Unified School District, area youth sports
programs, and most recently a project called ‘Habitat
for Humanity in Musicians Village’ in the New Orleans
9th ward district assisting victims of Hurricane Katrina.”
Morin founded Key Information Systems in 1999. He has led the
firm from a startup organization to its current position as
an IBM Premier Business Partner, Microsoft Certified Partner
and AVNET Premier Business Partner. With one of the most knowledgeable
and best trained teams in the industry, Key provides a broad
range of technology solutions from four offices in California
and Arizona. The firm was honored as 46th on Inc. Magazine’s
500 Fastest Growing Privately Held Companies list in 2002 and
ranked as the number-one fastest growing company in 2002 by
the Los Angeles Business Journal. IBM awarded Key its Beacon
Award in 2002 and its Business Partner Leadership Award in
2004. In 2006, it was ranked among the area’s fastest
growing privately held companies by both the Los Angeles Business
Journal and the San Fernando Valley Business Journal. Also
in 2006, Key received a Fast Track Revenue Growth Challenge
Award from IBM and the Top Partner Award for the Western region
from AVNET.
The Nissan Open promises to have many of the leading players
in the world ranking. Last year, Rory Sabbatini won the Nissan
Open to bring home the $918,000 first-place purse. Many of
the greatest names in professional golf have been crowned Champion
at the event since its inception in 1926, when it was conceived
by the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce. Past Nissan
Open champions include Sam Snead (1945, score 283), Byron Nelson
(1946, score 284), Ben Hogan (1948, score 275), Arnold Palmer
(1963, score 274), Billy Casper (1968, score 274), Tom Watson
(1980, score 276), Johnny Miller (1981, score 270), Fred Couples
(1992, score 269), Craig Stadler (1996, score 278), Nick Faldo
