JDE Analytics
New application from GSS Group offers analysis and reporting for JD Edwards General Ledger.

We spoke to John Joynt, president of GSS Group, Inc. in Markham, Ontario, Canada, about a new Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services-based analytic application called Vigilance Finance that offers impressive interactive analysis and ad hoc reporting of cleansed and validated financial data from JD Edwards World and EnterpriseOne. It is one of several analytic applications for JD Edwards within the Vigilance family.

According to John Joynt, Vigilance Finance is a powerful, yet easy-to-use analytic application for JDE General Ledger that cuts days off the period-end closing cycle by delivering financial information for analysis and reporting in virtual real-time. Instead of the typical wait for standard reports to crunch through the numbers, Vigilance Finance exploits Microsoft Analysis Services’ On-Line Analytic Processing (OLAP) capabilities and provides rapid answers to users’ questions about their business' financial performance. The application allows a business user to ‘slice-and-dice’ and easily explore financial data in ways not possible within JDE or with other commercially available tools. The ad hoc reporting capabilities of Vigilance Finance mean that ‘no-IT-involvement’ self-service analysis and reporting is a reality.

By virtue of its ‘closed loop’ operation and automated referential integrity and data validation routines which identify suspect General Ledger data, the application enhances internal control procedures and provides full Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Vigilance Finance is typically installed in five working days, allowing users to quickly dig for the ‘nuggets of gold’ hidden in their JDE data.

The Vigilance family of solutions is built with the Microsoft .NET framework and SQL Server. As a result, it delivers the industry's lowest total cost of ownership among similar analytic applications.

Bottomline, Vigilance Finance can eliminate the need for IT staff members to spend hours crafting custom ad hoc reports and enables organizations to leverage their investment in JD Edwards World and EnterpriseOne to get more out of the business.
