Agoura Hills, Calif. – (May 9th, 2019) – Key Information Systems, Inc. (KeyInfo), a Converge Technology Partners company, is proud to announce the successful completion of Type 2, SOC 1 and Type 2, SOC 2 examinations, in addition to the successful completion of an attestation examination, formally known as an Independent Practitioner’s Report on the Information Security Program related to HIPAA and HITECH. An independent CPA firm performed these examinations with scope around the company’s Data Center and Cloud Services. By engaging an independent CPA to examine and report on the company’s controls, KeyInfo is able to meet the needs of their clients and obtain an objective evaluation of the effectiveness of controls that address operations and compliance, as well as financial reporting.
The controls addressed in a Type 2, SOC 1 examination are those that a service organization implements to prevent, or detect and correct, errors or omissions in the information it provides to its clients. SOC 1 may also refer to a report prepared in accordance with both SSAE 18 and ISAE 3402 and opine on management’s description of a service organization’s system and the suitability of the design and operating effectiveness of controls. Type 2, SOC 2 examinations are attestation reports that opine on controls at a service organization relevant to the security, availability, or processing integrity of a system or the confidentiality of privacy of information processed for the user entities. SOC 2 reports are an alternative to SOC 1 examinations, which may only opine on service organization’s controls that are likely to be relevant to user entities’ internal controls over financial reporting.
Concerning the attestation report, a licensed CPA firm performed the examination in accordance with Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) 18, Attestation Standards: Clarification and Recodification, section 205 specifically. The firm provided their opinion on if the information security program conformed to the applicable implementation specifications within the HIPAA Security Rule, and the HITECH breach notification requirements, as described in HIPAA Part 164 of CFR 45, as of March 31, 2019. This examination may provide additional peace of mind for customers that KeyInfo will appropriately safeguard protected health information.
Scott Youngs, Chief Technology Officer at KeyInfo stated, “We understand that these certifications are important to our clients and are happy to announce the continued successful completion of our annual SOC 1, SOC 2 and HIPAA/HITECH examinations. Security is at the forefront of our client’s concerns and we take these efforts seriously.” KeyInfo plans on the continued implementation of the rules and standards of both Type 2, SOC 1 and SOC 2 examinations, as well as the guidelines under HIPAA and HITECH.
